Dr. Michael Hassler

Dr. Michael Hassler is currently coordinating initiatives in the area of data driven decision making and machine learning for RENK GmbH in Augsburg, focusing on marine and industry segments. He obtained a PhD from the University of Augsburg in 2016 and subsequently held positions as Research Manager, Senior Data Scientist, and Product Owner for Analytics in the automotive and mechanical engineering sector.

Michael and Moritz will talk about the application of representation learning specifically for anomaly detection in time series data. The focus will be on on early detection of damages in large gearboxes, used, e.g., in cement mills. We will highlight the business context, methodology used, and present results of a PoC implementation.
